Shillong, Nov 28: The acting Vice Chancellor N Saha has issued an order on November 22 making the directions of the Vice Chancellor PS Shukla null and void.
However, in a letter addressed to the Centre, Shukla complained against the acting VC.
In an order issued to all the concerned departments, Saha said Shukla had proceeded on leave effective from 15.11.2024 pursuant to the constitution of a two-member Committee by the Ministry of Education vide order No. 12-9/2024-CU. IV dt. 14.11.2024 to inquire into the alleged mismanagement and administrative failures within the University. Additionally, Col. Omkar Singh (Retd) (Registrar) has also proceeded on leave from November 3.
“Consequently, the undersigned being the senior-most Professor has assumed the charge as Vice-Chancellor as authorized and in terms of the University Act & Statutes and Smt. B. Rynjah, Joint Registrar, as the Registrar In-charge. Therefore, in view of the above, any orders/ notifications issued by Prof. P.S. Shukla or Col. Omkar Singh (Retd) in the capacity of Vice-Chancellor or Registrar during their leave period may kindly be treated as unauthorised and null & void, since without locus-standi”.
This has angered Shukla, who in the letter to the Principal Secretary, union ministry of education on November 27 said that It
has come to his attention that ‘certain miscreants from various associations of the university, through the in charge vice chancellor, are unlawfully managing campus operations, daily life, and issuing unauthorized orders and circulars.
