Shillong, Sept 15: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has admitted the movement of militant outfits in Garo Hills region.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma had pointed out that the NDFB is roaming in Garo Hills and the youths are following them.
“We have inputs and intel about the movements taking place,” Conrad told reporters on Wednesday.
He said the operations have increased in all the districts of the region.
“That is why the entire intelligence, checks and operations being conducted in every district have increased”, he said.
The chief minister said the result was the killing of a gunman in Tura on Tuesday.
To a question, the chief minister said it would not be appropriate to mention the name of any group without proper intelligence.
“Yes, movements are taking place and information is there with us but I would not want to name any organisation as such at this point in time,” he said.
