Shillong, Feb 21: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced a holiday on Saturday (Feb 21) to facilitate the participation of people in the funeral of Shillong MP Ricky Syngkon.
The holiday will be applicable in all the districts covered by the Shillong Parliamentary Constituency.

Starting the obituary reference, the Chief Minister announced that, as Saturday is likely to be the funeral of the MP, the government decided to declare Saturday a holiday as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Earlier, Saturday was declared a working day to compensate for a December holiday on account of Christmas in 2025.
