Shiillong,Sept 10: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said the government is committed to ensure safety of its citizens following the seizure of two live IEDs in West Garo Hills on Thursday night.
The class 2 explosives weighed 3.5 kg.
Police and the CRPF personnel recovered the IEDs from Menhotchigre village area under Tikrikilla/Damal Asim police station jurisdiction in West Garo Hills..
Both the IEDs have been defused using booster charge and splinters seized. Police have registered a case in this regard.
Later, speaking to reporters, the chief minister said the recovery of IEDs was part of the excercise of the police to ensure safety and security of the people of the state.
He said operations are continuing in almost all the districts. The chief minister congratulated the police team of West Garo Hills for the recovery of IEDs.
