CM downplays exit of NPP MLAs

Shillong, Nov 29: National People’s Party (NPP) chief Conrad Sangma on Tuesday downplayed the resignation of two NPP MLAs Benedic Marak (Raksamgre) and Ferlin Sangma (Selsella).

He said the party is gearing up for the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections in the state.

The chief minister did not want to make any adverse comments on the resignations of the two NPP MLAs as he said, “You will have to ask them why they resigned but it is okay it happens in politics, it happens in many parties, it happens to many MLAs and they have taken their decisions so I have nothing to say about it.”

Wishing them the very best, the chief minister said, ” I wish them the very best and they can contest from any political party that they wish and as for my party, we will move forward and we will prepare for the elections.”

Benedic and Ferlin will join the BJP in the first week of December in Delhi.
