CM inaugurates centenary celebrations of Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital

Shillong, Nov 4: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday inaugurated the centenary celebrations of Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital at a function on the hospital premises in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
In his address, Sangma said the occasion is also a time to acknowledge and thank the services of Dr H Gordon Roberts, who arrived in Shillong in 1913 and started with a small dispensary in Mission Compound Shillong.
“We look back at the way the Dr H Gordon Hospital has contributed to our society and on behalf of the people of the State I thank all the past and present staff and members of the hospital for their numerous contribution,” he said.
The chief minister also recalled the days of Covid-19 and expressed his gratitude to the hospital for its role during the pandemic. He also informed that the health sector is one of the most important priorities of the government. “Health is a top priority for the government and we look forward to work in collaboration with hospitals so that health services are available to our people,” he added.
Earlier, Sangma hoisted the Centenary Flag.
The 350-bed hospital has Accident & Emergency, Genral Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynae, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Child Health, Chield Development Unit, Pediatric Surgery, Anesthesiology, Dental, Ophthalmology with speciality and super speciality, including 24×7 services. It also has a College of Nursing affiliated to North Eastern Hill University.
