CM inspects suspension bridge, visits villagers in South Garo Hills

Shillong, Oct 9: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, continuing his visit to the flood affected areas in Garo Hills, on Wednesday visited Reni Badimagre, where a suspension bridge over Dareng River connecting Reni Badimagre to Bibragre was inspected. The bridge has collapsed due to the flood. However, no population was affected by flood in Reni Badimagre.
Mt Carmel School near Chokpot market was affected by flood. Although the building was intact, the materials were damaged.
He also inspected the damaged houses at Bibragre, Chokpot. Total 20 households were affected by flood and 9 houses damaged. Relief was provided to all the 20 affected families.
In Rongrakgre village where the CM interacted with the flood affected families, 38 house holds were affected and 24 houses were damaged.
He also interacted with the people of two flood affected villages -Gonganggre and Danggilgre. Both these villages had 27 affected house holds and 10 houses were damaged.
In Daramgre village, total seven households were affected and three houses damaged. The CM also visited Daramgre playground affected by siltation due to flood and he promised to clear the silt with the help of PWD department.
After visiting Rongrikkimgre village, he inspected the washed away suspension bridge over Dareng river connecting Rongrikkimgre village to Dikronggre village. The suspension bridge was built by border area development department many years ago.
