CM rules out independent probe into Bernard case

Shillong, Aug 4: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday ruled out any independent probe into the case related to Bernard Marak.

The response is after the BJP state leadership met the Governor Satya Pal Malik and sought a judicial inquiry into the matter.

After the recent arrest of the BJP vice president, who was charged with running a brothel in his private farm house in Tura, the BJP leadership had alleged harassment of the party workers.

The BJP had also staged peaceful protests in this regard.

“As investigations are going on the cases and the facts are coming out, I don’t think there is any reason for any kind of independent probe as such,” the chief minister told reporters.
