“Therefore, to mark that anniversary or 8 years of completion of service to the state and to the people of the state, as part of our programme we will be releasing the CM’s Scholarship to over one lakh students on March 6,” he said.

Sangma stressed the government’s efforts to support students, particularly in rural areas, by providing guidebooks to improve pass percentages in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC).

“In class 10, when a child is given a matric exam, if the child fails the exam, the child’s life is over before it even starts his dreams are shattered. And as a government if you are not going to do anything about it and allow the system to continue and children you are talking about 20,000 children not being able to pass class X , their lives will be spoiled. Therefore, it is our duty to support and see. This is not an IAS exam or MCS exam. They have the right to be able to move forward in life and it is with that spirit that we said let us come up with the guidebooks. There are guidebooks anywhere in the country. Every single CBSE class X different boards in different states give guidebooks,” he said.

“Our students in rural areas do not get this kind of support, and hence we came up with guidebooks. I congratulate the education minister and the department for working on this; it’s the greatest blessing we are giving to these children,” Sangma said.
