Coal supplies to power plants rise to 2 MT
New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI): Amid continuing coal shortage at power plants, the Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday said cumulative coal supplies have increased to more than 2 million tonnes.
He also stated that coal dispatch to power plants will be further increased to ensure sufficient stock with power plants.
“Happy to share that cumulative coal supplies to thermal power plants from all sources, including Coal India, recorded more than 2 million tonnes yesterday (on Tuesday). We are increasing coal dispatch to power plants further to ensure sufficient coal stocks at power plants,” the minister tweeted.
In a separate statement, the Ministry of Power said demand of Delhi was 4683 MW (peak) and 101.9 MU (Energy) on October 11.
“As per the information received from Delhi DISCOMs, there was no outage on account of power shortage, as the required amount of power was supplied to them,” it said.
The Centre has allayed fears of any possible blackout due to coal shortage at thermal power plants in the country maintaining that panic button is being pressed unnecessarily.
