Col CK Nayudu Trophy: Meghalaya frustrated by wet weather
Shillong, Nov 2: Meghalaya have not been fortunate with the weather as rain has meant days lost in their Ranji Trophy and U-23 men’s Col CK Nayudu Trophy matches in Patna and Shillong, respectively.
Sunday was meant to see the start of Meghalaya’s Col CK Nayudu Trophy Elite Group match against Goa at the MCA Ground. However, overnight rain had left the outfield too damp in places, and further rain today meant that no play was possible.
Meanwhile, in Patna, today was the second day of Meghalaya’s Ranji Trophy plate group match against hosts Bihar, but no play has been possible on the first two days, leaving the result in some doubt.
The only game today that did see a result was Meghalaya’s fixture in the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy plate group, where Mizoram emerged as six-wicket winners in Lucknow. Meghalaya were restricted to 50/9 in 20 overs, which Mizoram chased for the loss of four wickets in 12.4 overs.
Meghalaya finished fifth in the table with one win against Arunachal Pradesh and three defeats. They were unlucky that their game against Nagaland two days ago was washed out – Nagaland had lost all four of their other matches, and if Meghalaya had won, they would have climbed to fourth place.
