
Shillong, May 19: A committee will be formed to examine the roster system and till the findings of the committee, there will not be any new advertisements for government jobs.
However, the ongoing recruitments will continue and the appointments will be as per the roster system.
This was informed by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma after the all-party meeting on Friday.
The committee will be headed by Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.
The government will go ahead with the roster system with prospective effect and there will not be any discussion on reservation.
The VPP and KHNAM leaders walked out of the meeting as they wanted review of the reservation policy.
NPP stand
Later, NPP leaders WR Kharlukhi and Ampareen Lyngdoh addressed a press conference backing the decision of the government on roster system.
Ampareen said the government is firm on implementation of roster system from prospective effect.
On reservation policy, Kharlukhi said as per article 16( 4) of the Constitution, the reservation is to uplift the weaker sections.
He also added that the reservation policy is not based on population.
BJP supports govt
The state BJP president Ernest Mawrie, BJP leaders HM Shangpliang and Ferlin Sangma also supported the government stand on roster system.
Addressing a press conference, they also agreed with the government that it should have prospective effect.
