Shillong, Sept 19: There are concerns about the office memorandum on exemption of public hearing before starting uranium mining.
After the NPP youth wing- National People’s Youth Front (NPYF)- took up the matter with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma , the HYC has also raised similar concerns.

The Centre relaxed rules under which projects involving critical, strategic, and atomic minerals—including uranium—have been exempted from the mandatory public hearing process under the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006.
