The chief secretary said the containment measures issued on June 11 will continue to be enforced in the state from June 21 until further order.

The decision is to safeguard the state from uncontrollable surge in Covid cases, the order said.

Earlier, briefing reporters, Health Minister AL Hek said that while the containment and other restrictions will continue, it is upto the deputy commissioners to decide on relaxation of lockdown.

Sources, however, said that since the cases are still rising, the lockdown will continue for the whole month.

No forceful vaccination

Hek also said that there is no question of forcing anyone to go for vaccination.

According to the health minister, it is a request from the government as vaccination will protect people.
