Shillong, Oct 28: East Khasi Hills Special Judge ( NDPS) has convicted two accused of drug peddling.
The quantum of punishment is imprisonment for 6 years and a fine of Rs 60,000
In the order on October 27, the court convicted the duo identified as Marvinson Jyrwa and Skhem Kupar Massar for possession of drugs ( section 21b) /29 of the NDPS Act and also distributing them to minors ( section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act)
In another case, the court of Additional DC( Judicial, Shillong) convicted the accused Bijoy Hajong for seven years and with a fine of Rs 1 lakh for rape.
Public Prosecutor SS Das was present during the hearing.
The court also asked the district legal services authority to provide compensation to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
