Court follows up PIL on heritage structures
Govt to file report on status of circuit house & others e & others

Shillong, Feb 11: The High Court of Meghalaya will take up the issue of preservation of heritage sites, including Laban circuit house on March 11
The division bench comprising Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice W. Diengdoh, heard the PIL on Wednesday.
Additional Advocate General sought four weeks to comply with the order on December 4, 2025, in asmuch as, it directed the Heritage Committee to file a detailed report for identification of buildings, artefacts, structures, etc., in terms of Section 3 of the Meghalaya Heritage Act, 2012 and steps taken for restoration and preservation of the same. By the order, the Heritage Committee was also required to examine the heritage position of the building in question, (circuit house), which prima facie appears to have historical importance.
The affidavit should be filed with the registry within two weeks with an advance copy to the Amicus Curiae.
