Court for speed detection devices

Shillong, Jan 28: High Court of Meghalaya has asked the state to ensure that speed detection devices, wherever required are suitably installed and maintained.

While disposing of a PIL moved by Romilton Pahsyntiew, the division bench comprising Chief Justice IP Mukerji and Justice W Diengdoh said that the government should  suitably mark the speed brakers so that they are discernable from a reasonable distance

“It would be desirable if the speed brakers are preceded by a signage, wherever possible so that the motorists can be made aware of the need to reduce speed”, the court said.

After hearing the counsels for the parties, the court said it is satisfied that the order dated December 16 has been complied with to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
