Shillong,July 18: The court of First Class Judicial Magistrate DKK Mihsill granted bail to Silome James, a co-accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, on Friday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the court had reserved the order.
Advocate Devesh Sharma from Indore, who represented James for bail, said the court granted bail with conditions.
Sharma said the bail bond is Rs 50,000 with surety of two bailors.
According to an official source, other conditions are that the accused person shall not commit an offence similar to the offence which he is accused of the case acquainted with the facts of the case so as to dissuade them/such person from disclosing such facts to that he shall not make, directly or indirectly, any inducement, threat or promise to any person the Court or to any police officer or to tamper with the evidence; that he will appear before the Court on each and every date fixed by the court; that he will fully and wholly co-operate with the investigation being conducted by the police and shall appear before the investigating officer as and when directed by him; that he will not tamper with the evidence in any manner whatsoever, that he will not hamper the investigation in any manner whatsoever.
During the hearing, the prosecution had opposed the bail
Police had arrested James for his alleged involvement in the case after he had destroyed evidence.
A country-made pistol, jewellery, and cash were recovered from him.
Lokendra Tomar, a co-accused in the case, had leased out his flat to James.
Sonam Raghuvanshi had stayed in the flat after fleeing from Shillong.
The court had on July 9 granted bail to Tomar and the security guard, Balbir Ahirbar, after their judicial custody ended.
They were released from the Shillong jail last week on bail bond of Rs 20,000 each and surety of two bailors.
