Shillong, Sep 27: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the state government to provide the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) into the anomalies in the functioning of the weighbridges in the state resulting in the failure to arrest overladen vehicles.
While hearing a PIL, the division bench said, “Despite the State referring to an order dated August 23, 2023 passed in PIL No. 1 of 2022, it appears that serious anomalies in the functioning of weighbridges in the State and the abject failure to arrest vehicles have been pointed out in a recent report by the Comptroller and Auditor-General.”
