Shillong, Jan 27: A case of custodial death was reported on Thursday after the police claimed that an undertrial prisoner committed suicide in Shillong Civil Hospital.
Police said the UTP identified as Ravi Sunar was brought from Ri Bhoi to Civil Hospital for treatment.

He was arrested along with two others on Wednesday morning in connection with a drug case in Down Gate area in Ri Bhoi.
According to the police, the UTP committed suicide in the toilet of Civil Hospital around 9 15 am.
The father of Ravi, Chandra Mani Sunar wondered as to how his son, an autorickshaw driver by profession, would resort to such a drastic step.
