Shillong, Jan 31: The Dorbar Shnong Golflinks, under the leadership of Rangbah Shnong Michael Hek, carried out an inspection of roads and other infrastructure facilities in the Golflinks area on Saturday ahead of the National Games-2027
Michael said that the Shillong Club must work in coordination with the Dorbar Shnong if the government undertakes construction of roads, footpaths, and beautification works in the area.
He also expressed concern over Shillong Club’s claim that the entire area belongs to them.
“Such a position is not correct and could create obstacles to public development works required for the National Games”, he said.
The inspection was conducted to assess the present condition of internal roads, cleanliness, drainage systems, and overall civic amenities, as the area is expected to play an important role during the National Games to be hosted by Meghalaya.
Michael stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among the shnong authorities, residents, and concerned government departments to ensure the timely completion of development works. He said proper planning and effective implementation are essential to ensure the area is fully prepared to welcome athletes, officials, and visitors during the Games.
He further highlighted issues such as illegal dumping of waste, poor road maintenance, and the need for improved infrastructure, urging residents to cooperate with the Dorbar Shnong and authorities for the overall development of the locality.
The Dorbar Shnong Golflinks said that observations and suggestions made during the inspection would be forwarded to the concerned departments for necessary action in view of the upcoming mega sporting event.
