Shillong, Nov 10: Spectacular drone display (in picture) at the night sky, fireworks, laser story board, music and dance overshadowed a dimly lit stage where the speakers addressed the gathering during the inauguration of North East Olympic Games 2022, on Thursday evening.
A large section of the media grappled with the problem of poor net connection and dim lights as the event was officially opened.
The venue of the inauguration at NEHU was in the no-net zone and several media persons complained that their net connections to Jio, Airtel, BSNL and Vodafone were not working, making it difficult for them to send or post live shots of the function.
The digital and electronic media found it difficult to take videos as the light arrangement was poor.
Children had to wait at the venue for more than three hours and some of them were seen sitting on the ground braving the cold weather.
Some visitors were unhappy over the exorbitant charge on food items at the venue.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed cultural displays of all Northeastern states and Sikkim at the NEHU ground, the venue of many disciplines.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, while addressing the gathering, urged the youths to shun drugs and anti-social elements to channelise the energy for constructive activities so that they can excel in life.
