Shillong, March 28: Education Minister Rakkam Sangma said the department is on the job to recruit teachers in the state against the vacant posts.
In reply to a question by Charles Marngar ( Congress), the minister said in the Assembly on Tuesday that there are 420 vacancies of SSA teachers- LP 102, UP 292 and secondary 26.
The status of vacancies of government teachers is 1219. The break-up is LP 1002, UP 41, secondary 125 and higher secondary 51.
To a supplementary question, Rakkam said in 9,03 schools, the enrollment is less than 20, in 45 LP schools , there is single digit enrollment and in 62 Upper Primary schools, the single digit enrollment is a reality.
New Anganwadi centres
The state government has proposed 813 new Anganwadi centres in the state.
In reply to supplementary questions by Mayralborn Syiem (UDP) on Tuesday, the chief minister said the response from the Centre regarding the is awaited.
The chief minister said the government is carrying out various initiatives including supply of eggs to the children.
“We are trying to cover large number of villages with Anganwadi centres’, he added.
PWD Shangpung Divison Office
UDP legislator from Mokaiaw Nujorki Sungoh wanted immediate shifting of the Sub-Division Number-1 of PWD Shangpung Divison Office located in Jowai.
Raising a supplementary question in the Assembly, Sungoh said, “I request the deputy chief minister to look into the matter so that the sub-division comes to my constituency.”
According to the MLA, there will be no issue as far as the land for shifting the sub-division number – 1 is concerned.
Deputy chief minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong said that shifting of the sub-division number-1 is under the examination of the government.
He said the sub-division is looking after two constituencies – Raliang and Mokaiaw.
