Shillong, June 21: Ekta Mahila Samiti of Shillong felicitated and honoured acclaimed author Salil Gewali with the prestigious Literary Award for his exceptional contributions in raising awareness about the drug menace through his writings and his extensive research on Indian literary heritage. Samiti is involved in various anti-drug, youth awareness, and women empowerment initiatives for over two decades.
Gewali, a prolific writer from Shillong, has gained international acclaim for his book “Great Minds on India,” which has been translated into fourteen languages, including Urdu, German, and Arabic. The work compiles the views of eminent scholars, scientists, philosophers, and writers from around the globe, highlighting the profound contributions of ancient India to human civilization. In 2019, Great Minds on India was also acquired by the Ministry of External Affairs for placement in the libraries of various Indian embassies worldwide.
