Shillong, July 3: An explosion in a house at Lum Kynsai in Smit killed a person who was in his room, on Monday.
Local MLA Ardent Basaiawmoit, who visited the area, said the bed-ridden person due to spinal code injury was sleeping in the inflated electric mattress and the incident may have occurred due to overcharging.

Police are examining the area to ascertain the actual cause of the incident.
