Extreme kayaking at Megha Kayak fest 2025 a first in India
Shillong, Oct 21: The eighth edition of the Megha Kayak Fest 2025 featured the AWP Asian Extreme Kayak Championship, and it’s the first time it has been held in India.
The MKF kicked off on October 15 with the Intermediate Downriver Race.
Then, the pros headed down to the lower Umtrew to practice for the AWP Asian on October 16.
The paddlers and crew camped in the steamy, humid jungle for the night. On October 16, the Enduro race was held down the lengthy Terminus Rapid. Some mentioned that it could be the best jungle course in the world.
Kaelin Friedenson and Evy Liebfarth, both from the USA, took the honours.
Everyone returned to Whitewater Village, the MKF venue, for the Pro Downriver on October 17. This time, it was Paul Aubertin and Evy.
The Fest concluded on October 18 with the Kayak Cross, and this time, it was Kaelin and Evy, again.
