Shillong, Aug 14: Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh has announced upcoming festivals to be held from October in the state.
The Megha Kayak Festival will be held on October 12, 13 & 14. It is an annual whitewater contest held at Umtham village also known as the Whitewater Village of Meghalaya. This event will offer three different types of whitewater races in one of the world’s most beautiful locations in Meghalaya, with a total prize money of 20,000 USD (approximately Rs. 16,00,000) for all categories Additionally, there are also equipment and other related incentives to be given as prizes. The Megha Kayak Festival is set to showcase competitors both from India and abroad. In the last Megha Kayak Festival in 2022, there were 35 male and seven female participants who took part in two distinct professional categories:
Shillong Literary & Cherry Blossom Festivals
While the second edition of Shillong Literary Festival will be held on November 14, 15, & 16, the Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on November 17, 18 & 19.
This year, the Cherry Blossom Festival will be held in Ri Bhoi district.
The dates of The Me Gong Festival and the Winter Tales Festivals will be announced later.
