Film exploring matriliny gets award

Maharashtra Minister for Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar, President IDPA Sanskar Desai, Festival Director and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcastingi B Prithul Kumar and actor Shekhar Suman presented the award. The award carries a trophy and prize money of Rs1 lakh.
The short fiction explores identity, love, and human connection between nature and a household in the matrilineal society of Garo Hills. The film’s cinematography, storytelling and actors’ performances seamlessly work to convey in subtle ways the underlying strains in the family; making it a remarkable achievement as a student film, said a statement by Press Information Bureau.
Elvachisa from Meghalaya has specialised in Cinematography. Her filmmaking passion is fuelled by desire to showcase unique stories from his culture. Dipankar Das from North Lakhimpur, Assam studied film making and is eager to explore new cinematic experiences.
