Shillong, April 12: An FIR has been lodged at Laitumkhrah police station on Monday against social media shaming of a woman from the state.
The FIR, lodged by Kyrsoibor Pyrtuh, emphasises on the violation of right to privacy of the woman, whose ‘live video chat’ has gone viral since April 3.
The girl, who is from Meghalaya and is staying in Bengaluru, has been trolled on social media and “she must probably be going through an extreme mental trauma which may affect her mental and physical wellbeing and also putting her life and career at stake”, the FIR said.
“Besides the sharing of the video, the commentaries about her video vis a vis her personal choice of living is unbecoming and has further outraged her modesty,” it added.
Pyrtuh appealed to the police to investigate the matter and trace the “primary viewers” who leaked or shared the video.
