FIR on syringe injection on minor turns out to be false

Shillong, Sept 2: The East Khasi Hills police on Tuesday said that the incident of two persons injecting a girl with a syringe is not true.

In a clarification on the reported incident for which a case was registered under  Lumdiengjri, Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, said that on August 18, Lumdiengjri police station received information that a minor girl had allegedly been injected with a syringe on her right shoulder by two unidentified bike-borne persons wearing helmets near the Bible Society of India, Jaiaw. The report led to widespread concern and apprehension among the public.

“Accordingly, Lumdiengjri PS Case No. 108(08)2025 under Sections 123/125 of the BNS was registered and investigated. A thorough investigation was carried out, during which all relevant evidence was examined and statements duly recorded before the Court, the SP said.

The investigation has conclusively established that the alleged incident did not occur as stated in the FIR, the official said.

“In compliance with legal procedure, a fnal report on the matter will be submitted before the competent court, Syiem said.
