First PwD from state to clear UGC exam
Shillong, Nov 5: Visually impaired teacher and independent writer Bertina Lyngdoh has become the first person with disability to clear the UGC-NET examination.
Lyngdoh told Meghalaya Monitor that she could probably the first in the North East to achieve the feat. “I am really happy to cross another milestone. With this, I also become the first in Meghalaya to clear the exam,” said Lyngdoh, who was the first visually impaired person in the state to get a master’s degree from NEHU.

- Originally from Sumer village in Ri Bhoi, Lyngdoh completed her secondary and higher secondary education from Jyoti Sroat, an inclusive school run by Bethany Society.
