Speaker and the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat convey their condolences

Shillong, Aug 5: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday expressed grief at the passing away of Satya Pal Malik, former governor of Meghalaya, who passed away on August 5 after a prolonged illness. He was 79.
The Speaker and the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
Malik served as the governor of Meghalaya from October 2020 to October 2022. Born on July 24, 1946, he was a distinguished Indian statesman who served as governor of Bihar, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa and Meghalaya during his illustrious public life.
Known for his unwavering commitment to public causes, Malik was especially vocal on issues concerning farmers’ welfare, earning respect across the political spectrum.
“A humble, kind-hearted, and principled leader, Malik will be remembered for his integrity, depth of knowledge, and courage to speak on matters of national importance. Despite his calm and composed demeanour, he possessed remarkable strength of character and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him,” said a statement from the Legislative Assembly.
