Shillong, Sept 11: Four extortionists were arrested by Ri Bhoi police on Wednesday early hours.
According to the police, around 1.16 am during routine mobile patrolling duty conducted by Nongpoh police station police personnel, one fish-loaded Bolero camper driven by Abu Sadek, S/o Eman Ali and MD. Dildar Hussain, S/o Abdul Kuddus of Sarruchala, PS Morabari, Dist Morigaon, Assam reported that while they were coming towards Nongpoh, one vehicle bearing number AS 01FN 4202 alto intercepted them at Shangbangla, assaulted them and snatched away their mobile phones and cash.Immediately, other mobile patrolling party were alerted and search was conducted in the likelihood areas. After a while, the patrolling party spotted the alto near Pahamsyiem and SI S.R Marak with his team chased and intercepted the vehicle near Treasury office and detained the car and apprehended one Ricky Tangsang but another miscreant Mustafa Lyngdoh managed to escape. Later, with the help of the special team of Ri Bhoi police along with the CRPF personnel, Mustafa Lyngdoh and two other miscreants were apprehended. In this connection, a case vide Nongpoh PS C/No. 101(09)2024 U/s 126(2)/309(4)/115(2)/351(3) BNS has been registered and investigated into.
