Shillong, Aug 30: Four members of an armed group were killed following an exchange of fire between the police and the group on Sunday early morning.
A police official said that ‘in the early hours of Sunday- around 4:00 am, during a police naka checking at Songsak area, East Garo Hills, four armed miscreants fired upon police personnel’.

The official added that in the ensuing exchange of fire, the four miscreants sustained injuries and succumbed to their injuries. “The deceased are being identified”, the official added.
The initial claim is that they may be an inter-state group.
However, according to the police, further details will be shared after due verification and confirmation.
