Shillong, June 23: Four persons were arrested for robbing tourists from Mumbai.
In a statement issued on Monday, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said on Sunday around 8 pm Jay Nand Kishore Joshi and family along with another newly-wed couple who are tourists from Mumbai , parked their Innova near Mahindra Showroom , Mawblei and went to the By the Way Restaurant for dinner.
On their return, they found that someone had broken the window glass of the car and stolen their luggages containing cash Rs 50,000 and an IPhone 13. A case was registered at Madanrting police station.
On Monday evening, four persons were apprehended from Mawblei Block B by the Madanrting Special Party with all the items and cash. The arrested persons are Chaphrang Nangkiew Sutnga( 24) from Mawbleì, Wanjop Kharumnuid (23) of Laitkor Nonglum Albertstar Kharhujon (22) of Umphyrnai and Michael Nongrum (45) of Demthring Block A.
