Four held in connection with case on chopped human body parts

Shillong, April 3: Four persons were arrested in connection with the recovery of chopped body parts of Omega Myrthong (30) of Mawlaingut village.
In a statement issued on Monday, Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem said that the accused were identified of which three persons were arrested on April 1, while one more was arrested on April 2.
He said on February 26 night, the victim was abducted and killed at Pomlum view point and the body chopped up at the bank of Umiam lake.
A Bolero pick up was used to abduct the deceased and the clothes of the deceased were recovered on Monday, on the leading of the accused from Dewsaw Krang and Nongpathaw jungle respectively.
A missing case was registered at Lumdiengjri police station after Omega went missing from the village on February 26.
A decomposed head suspected to be of the missing person was recovered on March 7 from the bank of the Umiam lake.
On March 8, the left arm and the right arm were recovered from separate locations around Umiam lake which was in a decomposed state and later the half buried torso was also recovered from the area.
The post mortem of the body was done on March 10 at civil hospital, Nongpoh.
The seized exhibits were sent to FSL, Shillong and CFSL Kolkata for examination.
