Shillong, June 24: Four persons, including two ladies, were arrested on Monday for drug peddling.
According to police, information was received that two persons along with one lady were travelling in a private car coming from Silchar and carrying illegal contrabands. Checking was done at Umtyra led by Bidhan Bhattacharjee DySP Crime Khelirihat with ANTF team and detected the vehicle.
A search was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses and 15 soap boxes of yellowish powder were recovered.
Preliminary test was conducted and it showed positive result of heroin.
Initial interrogation was done and the accused persons also revealed that the consignment was to be delivered to one Maya Gwala who was later arrested in Khliehriat .
In this connection a case was registered in Khliehriat PS under proper section of law and further investigation is on.
