
Shillong, Oct 4: Four passers-by, including 3 minor girls, were killed on Friday after a mini dumper (ML05-AC-8447), which was coming from Jowai and proceeding towards Bhoirymbong, hit five persons at Thadrang village under Mawlasnai Out Post.
The vehicle was carrying sacks of sand.
Ri Bhoi Special Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore said on Saturday that three girls died on the spot, while one more injured died on Saturday morning, and another was seriously injured.
The vehicle overturned after the accident, causing serious injuries to both the driver and the helper.
All the injured have been referred to a higher medical facility from the Bhoirymbong Community Health Centre.
Three bodies were handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.
The vehicle was seized.
Police said a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder (105 BNS) will be registered, besides rash and negligent driving and other relevant sections
All four victims are from Thadrang Madan Lyngbah, PO Mawlasnai, PS Umiam, Ri-Bhoi
