Four pressure groups want equitable distribution of ancestral property
Shillong, April 11: Maitshaphrang, KSU, HNYF & FKJGP have demanded equitable distribution of ancestral property and amendment to the 1986 Act.
Maitshaphrang chief Michael Syiem, while addressing the press, informed that there is a need to amend the Meghalaya Succession to Self Acquired Property Khasi and Jaintia Special Provision Act 1986 to include ancestral property.

Another suggestion is to insert equitable distribution of property in the Act.
Invitations will be sent to all the clans to attend a meeting in Jaiaw on April 15 at 11 am to discuss the matter and hear the views of the four organisations, he said.
