Shillong, May 26: NEHU VC PS Shukla,while referring to the May 21 Academic Council meeting held at NEHU as illegal, indicated holding another meeting after the Executive Council meeting to be held in Delhi on May 30.
Shukla also said the two-member central team met him too after meeting the NEHU functionaries and stakeholders.
Shukla had planned the Academic Council meeting on May 23 but deferred it and is waiting for the May 30 meeting in Delhi.
Earlier in the day, after the celebration of 52nd foundation day of NEHU, Rajya Sabha member WR Kharlukhi said, “I just came from a function at NEHU. I think the government is already in touch and they are going to have an executive council meeting in Delhi on May 30.”
He said the EC has been called in Delhi to discuss the ongoing crisis being faced by the University.
Kharlukhi said the situation in NEHU is turning normal with the taking charge of the ‘Acting Vice Chancellor’ Prof Sherwin M Sugnoh.
“With the acting Vice Chancellor, it is improving. Today, we were having a meeting and teachers and students were there. It is improving and it is normal,” he said.
Regarding the demand for removal of the NEHU VC, Kharlukhi said, “Let us wait for the outcome of the EC meeting”.
