Full of VVIP show in Durand Cup

Invited local media face discrimination

Shillong, Aug 2: The local media were denied entry to take visuals of John Abraham, the owner of North East United FC, when he arrived here at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, on Saturday, only because it was a VVIP area.
In the first half, the NEUFC scored two goals against the Malaysian Armed Forces FC on Saturday.

There was an exchange of words between a journalist and the public relations officers of the Durand Cup, who said the details would be provided to the media later.

However, the so-called state government media, MyMeG and many others were allowed to cover it.

There was no need for any invitation to the local media here if there were too many dos and don’ts, felt journalists who are covering the event.

From day one of the event, there were many hiccups in organising this year’s Durand Cup, resulting in thin attendance.

To cite atleast one discomfort, the media gallery did not have toilet facilities as they had to go all the way to the Polo parking lot, so also the crowd, but not the VIPs or the VVIPs.
