Gewali gets literary excellence award

Shillong, Dec 29:The city based writer, Salil Gewali was honoured with the prestigious Literary Excellence Award by the All-Assam Gorkha Students’ Union.
The event was held at Khanapara.
Renowned for his acclaimed book — “Great Minds on India,” which has been translated into fourteen languages, Gewali has written over eighteen books, including school textbooks.
The award citation highlights, “The recognition and translation of Mr. Gewali’s work into multiple languages underscore its significance and the impact it has had on scholars and leaders globally. Mr. Gewali’s relentless pursuit of knowledge and his commitment to sharing it with the world are truly commendable, which has also been profusely acknowledged and appreciated by the Governments of Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Punjab and Karnataka.”
Earlier this year in June, the Governor of Assam launched the Urdu edition of Gewali’s ‘Great Minds on India.’ During the programme, the Assam governor presented Gewali with “Rashtra Garurav Samman,” recognizing the profound influence of Gewali’s literary contributions to the nation.
Gewali’s book is being translated into Sanskrit by eminent Sanskrit scholar, Dr. Baldevananda Sagar. Notably, Dr. Sagar has been translating the Prime Minister of India’s monthly address, “Mann Ki Baat,” into Sanskrit for the past eight years.
