Shillong, Jan 28: Girls outnumber boys in both the SSLC and the HSSLC Arts & Science examinations of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE).
In the HSSLC commerce stream exams, there are more boys.
While the SSLC exams will be held from January 30 ( Friday) to February 11, the HSSLC exams are from February 18 to March 13.
According to officials, there are 28583 female students who will be appearing for SSLC exams compared to their male counterparts, with 20,210.
The number of female students in the HSSLC Arts stream is 14402, while that of the male is 9360. In the science stream, the girls are 2319, and the boys are 1460.
The male examinees in the commerce stream are 1440, whereas the number of their female counterparts is 1042.
Deviating from March, this is the first time that the MBoSE is conducting SSLC exams from January.
The purpose is to give a second chance to those students who fail in their first attempts.
