Golfer Aditi Ashok keeps hope alive for a medal

Tokyo, August 6 (UNI): India’s star golfer Aditi Ashok has kept hope alive for a medal in Women’s Individual Stroke Play at the Kasumigaseki Country Club here on Friday.

Aditi finished Round 3 with 2nd place with a score of 12 under par (-12) and a total of 201, 3 strokes behind leader and World No 1 Nelly Korda of the US.

India’s other golfer, Diksha Dagar, finished Round 3 with 1 over par (+1) and is tied 51st — 7 over par (+7) with total of 220 points.

Meanwhile, in wrestling, Ravi Kumar Dahiya settled for silver medal after losing 7-4 loss to Zaur Uguev of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) at the Tokyo 2020 57kg freestyle wrestling final, here on Thursday.

Dahiya became only the second Indian wrestler to win a silver medal at the Olympic Games after Sushil Kumar, who the silver at the 2012 London Games.

Another Indian wrestler Deepak Punia missed the bronze medal on his Olympic debut by a whisker. He conceded a take-down in last 10 seconds of the 86kg play-off against San Marino’s Myles Nazem Amine to miss the medal.
