Shillong, Feb 26: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said there is an increase in the unemployment rate in the state.
The matter was raised by Rajabala MLA Dr. Mizanur Kazi by way of a question in the Assembly on Thursday.

Replying to the question on the unemployment rate, the chief minister quoted two sets of figures that revealed an increase in the unemployment rate.
Admitting the unemployment rate, Conrad said that as 50% of the state population is youngsters, the government faces challenges.
He also referred to the creation of 3.6 lakh jobs by the government through various initiatives.
The chief minister also assured of digitizing the employment exchange.
