Govt allows offline classes for VI-XII grades, online for I-V in city and agglomeration

The education department has recommended reopening of schools with following activities from February 2

Classes I-V will continue with online classes in Shillong and Shillong Urban Agglomeration till further notice.

Classes VI-XII:  Offline classes to resume with immediate effect throughout the state.

However, the following activities are recommended for district administration to consider:

i The social distancing norms as specified by the health department and all Covid  protocols must be strictly adhered.

ii Consent of parents is paramount. Parents will have a final say on physical presence of their wards and attendance norms shall be flexible.

iii Teaching hours will be limited to three to four hours per day, alternate days routine is recommended and no cultural gathering and sports events are permitted.

iv  Blended mode of online and offline classes shall be an option to be exercised.

v The Deputy Commissioners are empowered to assess the risk locally and decide on reopening of schools either online or offline taking  into consideration the Covid cases and in consultation with the District Health Officials.

vi Task Force Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner may be constituted to monitor the resumption and safe operations of schools. The district school education officers may be nominated as member secretary along with the district medical health officers and prominent school principals and community leaders as members.

vii The Task Force Committee is empowered to assess the Covid-19 situation and the feasibility of school reopening.

viii Elementary to Higher Secondary school Teachers are to attend schools according to their duty chart developed by the school for compulsory transaction of daily / weekly lessons and submission of assignments / lesson plans worksheet /etc., accordingly via offline or online.
