Shillong, June 15: The state government employees participating in political meetings and gatherings have irked the government as it reiterated that the action is against the service rules.
Recently, many government employees had supported the hunger strike of VPP chief Ardent Basaiawmoit for review of reservation policy.
However, the government did not mention anything about VPP but said that the government employees should follow the service rules in letter and spirit and should refrain from indulging in such activities that are anti-government.
‘No government employee shall be a member of, or otherwise be associated with any political party or with any organisation which takes part in politics or whose activities have political bearing nor shall he take part in, subscribe in aid of or assist in any other manner any political movement or activity”, the notification issued on June 13 said.
