Govt ensures traffic flow after South Garo Hills affected by rain

Shillong, July 3: The state government has taken steps to ensure traffic flow on road blocked at Baghmara new market junction near circuit house,, South Garo Hills.

The government has decided to make a subway for the benefit of the stranded citizens to ensure ease of movement and connectivity

According to the disaster management officials, on July 2 and 3, there was very heavy rainfall in South Garo Hills District which affected the normal lives of the people and resulted in landslides in some places in the diatrict.

As per the reports received from the Block Development Officer of Gasuapara,  PWD link road from Dimapara to Ruga area was blocked at Meka Adu due to landslide on July 2
and another report received from the Executive Engineer PWD (R) and Circle Inspector Cum Officer in Charge of
Baghmara Sadar Police Station states that there are two more roads blocked at Panda village and Dikrong Village due to landslide and PWD NH road was blocked at Bolsalgre near Baghmara Circuit House due to landslide.
Link road from Dimapara to Ruga area was blocked at Meka Adu due to landslide and it was cleared.
PWD road from Baghmara to Chokpot was blocked due to landslide but this was also cleared.
PWD road from Baghmara to Moheshkola was also blocked due to landslide at Panda village. The road was cleared later.
The PWD NH road was blocked due to landslide at Bolsalgre area near Baghmara Circuit house on July 3.
The construction of subway is under progress.
