Govt files 10 cases against pressure groups

Shillong, July 19: Ten cases were filed by the police against the pressure groups, including KSU for checking labourers coming to the state.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said checking of workers by the KSU is unauthorised and action will be taken against the pressure groups.

Conrad assured that the registration of migrant workers will be done in letter and spirit and reiterated that tough acction will be taken against those involved in breaking the law by conducting unauthorized checking of documents across the region.

Earlier after convening a meeting with a delegation of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Conrad told reporters that the state government is examining  different proposals and suggestions given by the union.
