
Shillong, April 3: The state government on April 2 formed all-party commiteess to discuss railway and winter capital.
The all-party committees will comprise recognised and registered political parties to discuss matter related to railway connectivity in Meghalaya and winter capital in Tura.
The committees shall be headed by the Chief Minister or by a Minister to be nominated by the chief minister.
According to the notification, all political parties have been requested to depute two representatives for the committee. Government departments related to the matter will be invited during deliberation to be held by the committee.
Terms of reference for railway panelĀ
1. The committee shall examine and find solutions, ways and means to bring about the introduction and construction of railways in Meghalaya.
2. The committee shall assess the cost benefit analysis of introduction of railways in the state.
3. The committee shall seek views of all stakeholders concerned.
4. The committee shall submit the recommendation to the state Government.
Terms of reference for winter capitalĀ
1. To study and examine the feasibility of setting up of Winter Capital at Tura and examine the advantages and disadvantages of having two state capitals based on the demands made by various NGOs, Civil Societies etc..
2. The committee shall seek views of all stakeholders concerned.
3. The committee shall submit report to the State Government.
